Some information about Castellammare del Golfo
Castellamare has a marvellous Gulf which dominates the sea from San Vito Lo Capo to Punta Rama. At one time its port serviced the nearby ancient city of Segesta, which was home to the Elymians. The city’s economy is mainly connected with the sea and at one time developed around the castle located at its port, which is connected to the city by a lift bridge. The village of Scopello and its seaside tuna fishery, with its watch towers and sea stacks, are also part of the Castellamare del Golfo area; jewels of Western Sicily.
